I was recently asked, “Who is Embodied Movement® for?” and to my surprise I got silent, then stumbled over my words. This made me quickly realize I’ve GOT to clarify this quickly because in all of my trillions of cells I believe this is an urgent matter in upgrading the health hand wellness space this year and beyond.
The short answer is Embodied Movement® us for everyone.
But let’s get more specific and figure out why…
First let’s answer the question: What is Embodied Movement®?
Embodied Movement® is an approach that can be applied to any type of movement, whether it is dedicated movement like exercise or daily functional movement like posture habits for daily activities. It is a way to access safety in the body through gentle resiliency. Embodied Movement® teaches the methodology of: Release, Realign, Strengthen, Refine in order to build new neural pathways through movement.
Why is this important?
The key is the communication network of your nervous system. When you taken in information, through the environment, through circumstances, and through emotional impact, your nervous system “learns” it’s programming.
As humans, we operate on pathways and habits until or unless these habits and patterns are disrupted by new information. When we have been through stress or trauma, often the reactive signals in fight / flight / freeze/ faint / fawn mode become part of our daily rhythms. These signals include tension and other body processes that zap energy and function away from restoration, repair, and rejuvenation. Basically we feel like less of ourselves.
What can we do about it?
The good news is our brains, neuropathways, neuromuscular signals, and nervous system habits are all very “plastic” - meaning we can mold them! But we have to know how, because when they have been trained by stress, trauma, and intense emotional impact that programming is prioritized, so we have to learn the hacks.
Often people try mind-first approaches, and while they are a helpful part of a holistic approach, because this information is somatically (in the body) stored, they run into dead ends, change is frustrating, slow, or not even happening!
Using Embodied Movement® you are coming in from a sensory-first approach which gives new signals directly through the body, the nervous system, and to the brain.
This is flipping
Mind ⌲ Body to Body ⌲ Mind
Not that the first is incorrect, just that it’s not always (in fact often isn’t) the most effective pathway.
Ok... back to WHO is this for?
I can break this down into 2 categories: personal and professional.
Personally Embodied Movement® is for:
Professionally Embodied Movement® Training is for:
The most important steps you can take to upgrade your own kinesthetic intelligence are:

🌟The Conscious Body Conversation Series🌟
As humans, our relationship with our bodies has taken many twists and turns. In early human history we understood ourselves as spiritual beings. As time marched on and we learned more about how these bodies operate, our understanding of ourselves became more mechanical. This mechanistic view of the body has shed necessary light on the body systems, which has allowed us to innovate solutions to so many problems. And it has also created the space for disconnection, dissociation, and disembodiment.
In this video series, I chat with some of my favorite humans who have insight on how we can explore pathways to greater connection within our own sense of selves, with each other, and as co-inhabitants of this planet today.
Inhabiting our own bodies consciously is a necessary experience in progressing the field of whole health. I hope you enjoy these talks.

Folks have been asking me recently what the heart of the matter is with this Embodied Movement stuff, so I thought I’d share some of the good with you!
Often folks ask…What’s the difference between this and working out or doing yoga? Or is it a hybrid modality?
Here’s the best way I can put it…
You know when you try to make a change in your health routines, or in your life and you just keep hitting the same loops over and over again? That’s because those patterns are wired, often below your level of consciousness in your nervous system.
That’s how you, as a human, are designed. If you didn’t run on habitual loops it would take a TON of mental energy to get ANYTHING done. It’s intelligent human design. AND it can get you super stuck.
There are many factors that influence those patterns that get embedded in your nervous system.
You are wired to survive – not thrive (that’s a whole different level of operation!) When life starts happening and your survival gets challenged your nervous system has to reroute to adapt to the circumstances.
Things like general stress to acute trauma trip that wiring and initiate patterns that create a body armor – a protective layer that keeps you safe. This happens on the physical, emotional, and energetic layers. You can feel this as tension, pain, panic, emotional reactivity, or just a sense that something is off. Of course there are many many other ways that this could present.
The good news is that there are ways that you can bring things up from this subconscious auto-pilot level, make changes in those nervous system patterns, and then ease back into your groove, running on new loops.
This “trick” is also built in to your human design, however it takes the ingredient of AWARENESS to use it.
There are effective and efficient ways to facilitate this “re-wiring” – Embodied Movement is my favorite, and the way I work with my clients.
I’m sure you know this feeling – storing all your stress in your body. You probably have a way you feel this, either tension in your neck and shoulders, your jaw, your low back. Your whole life’s history is stored in your body systems from superficial to deeper layers.
Embodied Movement techniques allow you to MOVE through the layers, locate and bring hidden patterns of sabotage up to your consciousness and shape shift them.
This is often a very satisfying process because your body shape shifts too. Your body is currently molding itself around those stress, pain, and trauma patterns, when you clear those up your body takes a shape of greater strength and ease.
Do you have a story about shifts you've made to your nervous system? I'd love to hear it! Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
