9/6/2021

Conscious Body Conversations Episode 29

Stress and Joy are opposite reactions when it comes to both physical state of being AND emotional experience. What do we do when stress and hard times take over our access to and experience of joy.

In Episode 26 Karen Bayard of Whole Body Laughter and I talked about accessing joy in hard times, today she shares with us expert tips to actually, practically EXPERIENCE IT. Tune in for:

• Adult Temper Tantrums
• The One Minute Album exercise (including giggles!)
• "I Am" exercise
• The Book of Lists to refer to
• Pick your power song and create a power playlist

What I love about this conversation and Karen's practical suggestions is that the year SOMATIC! Meaning we bypass the placating, "just unplug and it will be OK" Sometimes your body needs to FEEL something different to even get on a path remotely in the direction of OK. So if you're not sure things will be OK, or have been hesitant on the path of joy (like me!)...then THIS is worth an hour of your time!

Karen Bayard is the owner of Whole Body Laughter & sees joy as a both a key element of wellness & a revolutionary act. Karen has designed individual wellness experiences, team building playshops, fun-infused training programs, semester-long college level courses & easeful conflict resolution seminars in the US and internationally for Trinity College (Dublin, Ireland), United States Air Force, Huntsman Cancer Institute, ProBar, University of Utah, Western Governors University at Disneyland, Salt Lake Community College and more. As a Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher, IIN Certified Holistic Health Coach and former Board Member of the Association of Applied & Therapeutic Humor, Karen’s mission is to explore ways of vibrant living and cultivate opportunities to be well utilizing a variety of mediums, with a special focus on embodying joy.

🌟The Conscious Body Conversation Series🌟 As humans, our relationship with our bodies has taken many twists and turns. In early human history we understood ourselves as spiritual beings. As time marched on and we learned more about how these bodies operate, our understanding of ourselves became more mechanical. This mechanistic view of the body has shed necessary light on the body systems, which has allowed us to innovate solutions to so many problems. And it has also created the space for disconnection, dissociation, and disembodiment.

In this video series, I chat with some of my favorite humans who have insight on how we can explore pathways to greater connection within our own sense of selves, with each other, and as co-inhabitants of this planet today. Inhabiting our own bodies consciously is a necessary experience in progressing the field of whole health. I hope you enjoy these talks.

9/3/2021

Conscious Body Conversations Episode 28

It is due time we have a more empowered feminine conversation about alcohol...more specifically about letting go of alcohol. We all know too much can cause trouble. But in this conversation Erin and I talk about what happens at a biochemical level with even a drop. And quite possibly more importantly, what is the macro - cultural - influence of why we are drinking in the first place. From "mommy's sippy cup" to "coping juice" let's take a look at the empowered move of putting that glass down.

Erin Baker has spent her life pursuing health and wellness, spending most of her focus on clinical laboratory science. Over the years and suffering numerous health problems- including 2 autoimmune disorders- she became driven to find natural, holistic remedies for her own health. Understanding the power of our mental health and its relationship with disease, Erin has been able to make a difference in not just her own life, but the health of her family, friends, and clients.

Erin is a:
• Certified Holistic Health Practitioner
• Certified Life Coach
• Certified Health Coach
• Certified Transformational Coach
• Research Scientist
• Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist

Embodiment and Energy Medicine with Donna Becker

Conscious Body Conversations Episode 27

Picture
Movement is a crucial part of embodiment. Ancient healing approaches go as far as describing health as motion. Think of it like this - when a creak's water is flowing it is more clear, vital. When the water pools and stagnates, is still, murk collects. Our bodies are like that too. Physical motion is one way to clear this stagnation. Moving stuck energy is another.

In this video, Energy Medicine Practitioner Donna Becker talks to us about simple, practical ways to identify and move stuck energy. She shares the powerful impact of this not only in the current state of your health, but along the timeline of your entire health experience.

Donna Becker is Certified in Medical Qigong and NES Health Bioenergetics and Holistic Wellness.

Embodiment for Queer Bodies, what to say and what NOT to say with Nyle MacFarlane

8/13/2021

Conscious Body Conversations Episode 24

Embodiment is a whole other conversation when the body we are inhabiting doesn't fit the "standard norm". In fact, the fact that there IS a "standard norm" creates a higher chance of disembodiment for queer bodies that don't fit.

I couldn't let this series go by without addressing this very necessary topic and I couldn't think of anyone better to sit down with than my dear friend Nyle. In this raw and real conversation, Nyle (they/them) gives us the what to say and what NOT to say when it comes to working with queer bodies in order to create an environment that is embodiment friendly.

Nyle is a Queer, Non-binary, Polyamorous Occupational Therapist and single parent of three young children. Their work as a specialist in Somatics is to bridge the gap between mental health and bodywork.

"My role as a teacher of the body, an Occupational Therapist, and a fascial specialist is to help people create wholeness inside of their body and then maintain that connection to self through a practice that involves ongoing assessment, strengthening, flexibility, and self-treatment."

Aligning your life's purpose with Camille Miller

8/11/2021

Conscious Body Conversations Episode 23

Camille Miller is the founder of the Natural Life Business Partnership and has been my personal business coach. I connected with Camille when I saw we shared a common interest in epigenetics and was curious about a subconscious retraining modality she practices: Psych-K.

What I learned was that Camille's real passion is providing the container for people to bring their otherwise disjointed lives together. She says most people walk around all day living a work or professional life that isn't aligned with their authentic self.

The way I see it, THIS is a recipe for disembodiment. Listen as she tells her story about how her background in organic farming and working with labeling laws in D.C. helped her find that there WERE people like her working in corporate America and inspired her to create a business around allowing embodied professionalism. Welcome to the conversation.

A Walk Back To Self Love with Amber Huyghe

Conscious Body Conversations Episode 22

Today I chat with Amber Huyghe, podcaster and former radio personality about "a walk back to self love". Amber and I have been friends for years and many of our conversations return to a common experience, choosing your SELF and your HEALTH inside of cultural institutions that are constructed to make that extremely difficult.

Amber walked away from radio to choose freedom to use her voice for messages and causes that are true to her purpose without filtering them for the expectations put on her. She shares the many threads of her life that were connected to this powerful decision. I believe when you choose, over and over again your own truth we you are practicing embodiment. Welcome to the conversation.
